Post The time has come for me to...
Try and finally record something... I suck at guitar, but I'm confident enough with my skills (and the magic of being allowed to retry as many times as I like). It's going to be a cover... probably Van Halen.

It's not going to be anytime soon though. My studies are so hard, I'll have to wait for the holidays... but is anyone willing to play bass and drums? And is anyone willing to put the guitar, bass and drum tracks together?

They probably have backing tracks online that you could use for Van Halen.

Here ya go bro, hope you can find a song you want to attempt here.

I love Van Halen. I could contribute bass tracks. I might also be able to provide drum tracks since, typically, I record those myself anyway. PM or e-mail me and let me know when you've made a decision regarding the song.

I like you fisher. You aren't trying to impress anyone. Most people will tell you here that I'm just a sour liberal that laughs at dogs running into walls. So take that as a compliment:)

In any case, I'm thrilled to hear what you do. I'm such a scrub at recording, so let us know how you do it!

WOW! I didn't see all the reactions! Well cheers guys, it warms my heart. I've played the entire rythmn guitar section (slightly fucked it up, but not too much so I think it sounds good) and left the solo slot empty for me to come up with a new one that will borrow stuff from the original (I think I'll keep the beginning and the end of the solo similar and change the middle). I do not intend to record the solo anytime soon though, school resumes in a week. I'll probably finnish this project in 6 months, sorry! :(

I used a backing track BUT I want people from the board to lay the drums and the bass and remove the backing track. The volonteers can just play the song note for note but I recommend taking the liberties you want with the song as long as you think it sounds good, it has to be special, otherwise there won't be any difference with the backing track.

The reason this took me so long is because I used to use Cubase LE to record myself but it has some issues with Windows Vista, so I was stuck able to record only two things: Jack and Shit, and Jack had left town. Recently, recording for Jason's guitar jam has taught me to use Audacity that happens to be miraculously compatible with my ZOOM G2.1u pedal that was the interface between my guitar and my computer.

Anyway, enough talk! Here are the files! Drummers, Singers, Bassists, unleash the fuckin' fury! Oh! The song is Panama by Van Halen by the way xD !

I forgot to mention I've used the standard E tuning. I hope people still wanna play though :)

I'm in no rush as I said, so if any of you wants to be part of this take your time! 8)

Update:

I have come up with an idea for a solo and whilsted in a microphone the main melodic lines.

I'm very slowly (my studies only allow me to play guitar for 30 mins every 3-4 days) practicing the solo to be able to play it and record it.
