He brought the two firemen, frm-1 and the blue one, the ibanez artist, and the pgm 401.
The booklet was great. The first page was a bach piece he has been working on..
and the rest of the booklet is composed of some bach inspired licks that are really fun to play.
if anybody is curious, i could make some scans and post em. ?? :)

I'd be quite interested in seeing the scans too... rapidshare/mediafire, e-mail, or posting is fine! I'd be MIGHTY grateful. Of course you don't *have* to share them, but since you offered... if it's ok with Paul of course, that you show us, then, have at it!!

I sense something good, musically speaking, in the (near-ish) future.

:)

Here's another one of the students with Paul. It's a picture but you can't do the right-click to get the IMG code... that's what sucks about Twitpic and YFrog.

I think so too. Just from listening to the Bach piece he was practicing and all the licks that he gained from it I think it will turn out killer.

I went to the 5pm lesson today.

We all played together in A, trading off. Paul would play, VIP would play, back to Paul, etc.. Then Paul took questions and gave us very detailed answers. Later we jammed again, but in C. Paul went over a lot of great stuff in the VIP book. Then near the end he played technical difficulties for us. Man what a nice guy and amazing musician (and teacher).

I got my PGM signed on the back of the neck and a couple pictures with Paul.

2009 was pretty bad for me... I really needed this. What a good experience and great start to 2010..

Thanks Paul :D

Your lesson was similar to mine, except we only had one jam and then questions then to the book stuff. He played a couple songs from the back of the VIP book for us though at the end. Paul is a very genuine guy and so nice! Glad you had a good time and you are right, what a great way to start 2010!

(agh, no update, well, not of any substance, but the questions I ask could lead to great posts by you guys, so it's worth posting!)

Finally, the guys who went, are talking! It's *awesome* that you all had such great experiences. The photos that you're sharing - the 'victory!' looks, and smiles, on your faces really speak volumes about this.
I feel 10x worse for not being able to go.

Q's --

OK... what book?
I'm thinking you guys are talking about - the 2010 booklet of guitar secrets? The one that Paul wrote and prepared just for these lessons. It apparently contains some classical/Bach stuff that he arranged for guitar.

Because we've been calling something else the VIP book on this board for a year. I mean it's also basically by him, but that material is from 2008. *confused

On the handout/2010 VIP book:
Is the tab handwritten or machine-made? How many pages? Any accompanying text? What is the name of the Bach piece, and is it on YouTube by (some random classical player) anywhere? *dying of curiosity

Did anyone ask interview-ish questions or did you guys pretty much stay on task?

Which guitar was Paul actually playing for the sessions - Artist? 401? or one of the Fireman models?

I really like the book. It contains a lot of hand written stuff which is cool.

No one in my group asked interview type questions. We asked a question on scales/modes, sweep picking, pentatonic licks,.. I asked something about bending/vibrato. Ironic question for me to ask given every bend I made was sharp or flat. I was extremely nervous, my hands felt like jello.

I think what he played was an Ibanez Artist. Beautiful guitar and it was awesome to see him play technical difficulties on it. We all plugged into to Marshall Vintage Modern.

A PGM401 was on stage too. That guitar is really nice in person.

boohoo. Next time!

Thanks for the audio.. really cool! I dug the Brittney Spears/Black Sabbath part. As far as the Bach piece.. it's cool to hear that Paul struggles and learns things one note at a time just like us mortals! And you all do know what it means when Paul is working out a new Bach/Classical piece right?

P.S. Could someone please scan/gp tab the examples in the book? I reallllyy dug some of those licks he mentioned were in the book.

Here's the things that I have, excluding the picks because they are posted above and the shirt because it is in the wash. VIP Book, Ibanez Promo thing (think these were at NAMM as well), and SFDR poster I brought with me.

Oh, and I forgot to say, I will post the scans of the VIP book ASAP. As long as it is not against board rules, correct?

I attended the VIP lesson on Monday at 5:00, it was awesome! As some have commented, I was nervous as well. We had 2 jams with Paul which was cool. The highlight for me was Paul singing 2 Johnny Cash songs, I thought that was simply classic! I have some audio of it that I recorded with my blackberry would like to trade for audio of better quality if anyone has some.
